Courses can take place in many locations
in Nova Scotia for example: Lower Prospect, St Margaret’s
Bay.
Committed 2 The Core is not based in one location which
makes us very flexible and mobile. Depending on the specific
skills you are looking to work on, we are able to match
your training with different types of coastline and ocean
dynamics in order to maximize your experience and reach
your goals. |
Participants are required to supply their own personal paddling equipment. We can make arrangements to provide any additional equipment that may be required for training sessions. Sea kayak rental can also be arranged. Reservations must be made two weeks in advance. The rates for the sea kayak rental depends on the course you are taking. We have a fleet of Nigel Dennis Kayaks to use on courses. Participants are encouraged to demo the boats during course time. We do not rent sea kayak to the general public. Only participants training on Committed 2 the core courses.

In order to hold you spot on the course you are required to provide a deposit of 30%
Your spot is not confirmed until the deposit is received. Payments can be made using Pay Pal or by cheque.
Payment in full must be made 14 days before the course/clinic start date. If the course/clinic is cancelled, a full refund of your deposit will be issued. All courses are subject to break even and if there are not enough people on the course it will be cancelled within 14 days of the start date.
If you cancel within 14 days of course/clinic start date there will be NO refunds.

Paddle
Canada Flat Water Skills
Flat water introduces the novice to paddling a kayak in calm sheltered water.
Rescue techniques at this level incorporate the use of a paddling partner and it is essential
for all Flat water certified paddlers to travel on the water with others who have been trained in the techniques of assisted rescues.

1 Skills
Develop your core sea kayak skills with the Level I course. This
two day program will focus on fundamental skills that are necessary
to become a proficient paddler. Theory will include ocean process,
safety, navigation, equipment, paddling strokes and rescues. This
is a comprehensive and fun introduction to ocean paddling.

Paddle
Canada Level 2 Skills
Paddle Canada Level 2 introduces paddlers to expedition level sea kayaking with a focus on skills and leadership. Participants will plan a three-day sea kayak trip along the Atlantic coast of Nova Scotia.

Navigation,
Seamanship, Trip Planning
This will be an intensive 5 day program. Participants require Paddle Canada Level I or equivalent skills and must be in good physical condition.

This advanced course is designed to solidify many
concept surround the sea kayaking world. Advanced rescue techniques,
navigation, leadership, seamanship and paddling strokes will be covered.
Surfing, rock hopping, difficult landing are but a few of the skills
that will be practiced during this intensive 5 day course. Come solidify
your core skills and build on your tool box of sea kayak skills.

Level 1 Instructor Course
Develop your ability to impart the skills of safe kayaking to others and work towards instructor certification under Paddle Canada’s National Program. This course is based in Nova Scotia and focuses exclusively on teaching skills and techniques. Lectures will focus on: adult learning principles, class organization, liability, stroke progression and programming. This is not a skill development course. Time will be spent fine tuning strokes, but students are expected to arrive with “demonstration quality” strokes and a working knowledge of sea kayaking theory. Tidal Paddling Day
A unique feature in Nova Scotia is the Shubie Tidal Bore. As feature in Eastern Horizons that will be released to March 2009.
This course has been designed to introduce participant to tidal paddling. Topic to be covered:
